Charleston Charity Chums

Why was this partnership activity necessary - concerns, aims, difficulties etc?
To create a relaxed setting which would allow targeted pupils with low self-esteem/peer interpersonal skills the opportunity to demonstrate other talents and show caring for others through fund-raising while being exposed to good role models

Where does this partnership operate?
Weekly club held within the school building during lunchtime

When does this work happen?
Every Wednesday lunch time 12.40 - 1.15

How does the scheme work? How is it maintained, sustained and evaluated?
Craft ideas come from involved staff. Resources - partly funded by school, donated from various sources, expenses recovered from sales to develop a value of money. Profits given to elected charities. Any behaviour issues/concerns raised during meetings are discussed either openly with role models encouraged to participate or dealt with at a later date.

What are the benefits? What difference does this partnership make?
The club is perceived to be an elite organisation within the school. To be asked to join is seen as a privilege. The targeted children proudly show off their handiwork, encourage attendance at sales and enjoy fund-raising for charities chosen to support.
